The Yobe State Government has initiated discussions with Russian investment company, Legion Investment Moscow, to establish a gas-powered electricity plant. This plant aims to provide reliable power for the state's Agro-Industrial Zone, supporting various businesses, including agro-processing, manufacturing, storage, and cold-chain facilities. Mamman Mohammed, Director-General, Press and Media Affairs to Governor Mai Mala Buni, announced this development on his Facebook page.
A delegation from Legion Investment Moscow, led by Mr. Leonid Khasiev, met with Governor Buni to discuss the proposed project. The team, accompanied by technical consultant Mr. Rasim Azimov, is in Yobe to assess the technical and investment requirements of the project. Their visit includes inspecting proposed sites and engaging with relevant authorities to determine the best energy solution for the Agro-Industrial Zone.
This project aligns with the state government's efforts to advance agriculture beyond primary production. By developing facilities for production, aggregation, processing, storage, logistics, and market access, Yobe aims to attract international investors and strategic technical partners. Governor Buni emphasized that this partnership could help realize the Agro-Industrial Zone's potential, create jobs, promote value addition, and attract investment into the agricultural sector.
Governor Buni expressed his appreciation for Legion Investment Moscow's interest in Yobe, highlighting the potential benefits of the proposed partnership. He stated that Yobe State remains committed to building strategic partnerships that will unlock the economic potential of its agricultural resources and position the state as an attractive destination for agro-industrial investment.
The proposed gas-powered electricity plant is expected to play a crucial role in supporting the growth of the Agro-Industrial Zone. By providing reliable power, the plant will enable businesses within the zone to operate efficiently, contributing to the state's economic development. The project is also anticipated to create new opportunities for job creation and skills development.
Legion Investment Moscow's interest in Yobe's Agro-Industrial Zone project demonstrates the state's growing appeal to international investors. The partnership is seen as a significant step towards realizing the state's development priorities, particularly in the agricultural sector. As the project progresses, it is expected to have a positive impact on the state's economy and contribute to Nigeria's overall economic growth.
The Yobe State Government's collaboration with Legion Investment Moscow reflects its commitment to innovative and sustainable solutions for economic development.
