The Yemeni Ministry of Defense and the General Staff Directorate have launched a national mobilization effort and societal mobilization, in accordance with directives from President Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. This initiative was announced during a comprehensive meeting led by Defense Minister Major General Taher Al-Aqili in Aden.
The meeting, which was attended by Al-Aqili and Chief of the General Staff Major General Saghir bin Aziz, was conducted via video conferencing in Marib governorate. The attendees included deputy defense ministers, deputy chiefs of the General Staff, heads of various departments, and their deputies. During the meeting, Al-Aqili declared that practical measures would be taken to implement the general mobilization decision and activate the pathways for human mobilization and reserve forces.
The Defense Minister emphasized that the Yemeni Armed Forces are committed to their national and constitutional duty to defend the country, its sovereignty, and repel Houthi terrorist militias. He stressed the importance of military discipline, coordination of efforts, and the liberation of Sana'a and the rest of Yemeni territory from Houthi control. The minister's statements reflect the government's resolve to address the ongoing conflict.
Major General Saghir bin Aziz, Chief of the General Staff, highlighted that the general mobilization decision represents a national determination that necessitates a structured transition to higher levels of readiness. He emphasized the need for unified efforts, enhanced capabilities, and improved efficiency of the Armed Forces in performing their constitutional and legal duties. Bin Aziz called for the completion of an inventory of forces, means, and needs.
The Chief of the General Staff also stressed the importance of organizing call-up and reinforcement operations within legal frameworks, maintaining leadership and administrative structures, and ensuring accurate information and rapid response. He urged all leaders to elevate their level of discipline and preparedness, focusing on human resources, securing basic needs for forces, and promoting training and qualification.
Bin Aziz pointed out that the general mobilization is a national responsibility that extends beyond military units, involving state institutions and society as a whole. He expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, particularly from Saudi Arabia, in various fields. The coalition's backing has been instrumental in enabling Yemen to address its challenges.
