Eswatini's fastest lady Bongiwe 'Smolly' Mahlalela has been crowned Sportswoman of the Year at the prestigious Tshwane University of Technology Sports Awards ceremony held on October 1, 2026. The event was a grand affair, and Mahlalela's remarkable accolade was accompanied by an International Participation Award and a lucrative E128 000 sports scholarship covering full tuition fees. This achievement is a testament to her hard work and dedication to her sport.

Mahlalela expressed her emotions upon receiving the award, stating that she literally cried when her name was announced as Sportswoman of the Year.
