Yas Tanzania has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting health camps organized by the Zanzibar Maisha Bora Foundation (ZMBF), aiming to increase access to specialized medical services for residents. This pledge was made during the launch of the Afya Bora, Maisha Bora medical camp in Kinduni, North B District, Unguja. The camp, a collaboration between ZMBF and Zanzibar's Ministry of Health, with Yas Tanzania's support, offers various services including breast and cervical cancer screening, eye and dental care, and consultations with ear, nose, and throat specialists.

The Afya Bora, Maisha Bora medical camp in Kinduni is part of a larger initiative by ZMBF, which has already benefited over 30,400 people since its inception. The camp provides residents of North Unguja with an opportunity to access specialist services, including blood donation services, without incurring the costs of traveling long distances to seek treatment. Zanzibar's Minister of Health, Nassor Ahmed Mazrui, emphasized the importance of taking specialist services closer to communities, saving families time and resources.

Minister Mazrui also highlighted the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar's efforts to improve health facilities, medical equipment, and working conditions for health workers. The ministry's Permanent Secretary, Dr. Mngereza Mzee Miraji, reported that the government has invested in 10 district hospitals during President Hussein Ali Mwinyi's first term. These investments aim to enhance the overall healthcare infrastructure in Zanzibar.

ZMBF Chief Executive Officer Rehema Tukai encouraged residents to visit the camps for screening and treatment, emphasizing that Afya Bora, Maisha Bora is an ongoing campaign. Yas Zanzibar Head Waqid Mohamed Waqid expressed the company's satisfaction in supporting community healthcare as part of its commitment beyond telecommunications services. He assured continued collaboration with ZMBF to enable more people to access specialist care.

North Unguja Regional Commissioner Galos Casian Nyimbo urged residents to take advantage of the camp by coming forward for screening and seeking advice from specialists. The commissioner's appeal aligns with the government's efforts to increase health awareness and access to medical services. The Afya Bora, Maisha Bora campaign is a significant step towards achieving these goals.

The health camps organized by ZMBF, with support from Yas Tanzania, have been instrumental in providing residents with an opportunity to undergo health checks, receive medical advice, and identify potential health conditions early. The collaboration between the government, ZMBF, and Yas Tanzania demonstrates a concerted effort to improve healthcare outcomes in Zanzibar.

As the Afya Bora, Maisha Bora medical camp continues in Kinduni, residents are expected to benefit from the various services offered. The ongoing support from Yas Tanzania is anticipated to enhance the impact of these health camps, ultimately contributing to better health outcomes for the residents of Zanzibar.
