Yango, a technology company, participated in the Cameroon International Tech Summit 2026 (CITS26) as an official mobility partner, demonstrating how its platform translates into economic opportunities and daily services for thousands of drivers, transport companies, and users in Cameroon. With five years of local activity, Yango has established a significant presence in the country, operating in Douala, Yaoundé, and Bafoussam since March 2025. The company has partnered with over 150 Cameroonian transport companies and offers four categories of service: Eco, Confort, Confort+, and Moto.
The CITS26, organized by Mountain Hub with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as an official partner, brought together public authorities, investors, entrepreneurs, and young innovators to discuss transforming Cameroon's talents and technology into sustainable economic opportunities. Yango's participation focused on showcasing its platform's potential in creating jobs and stimulating economic growth. The company's model allows it to provide infrastructure for drivers and transport companies, generating value locally through gains for partners and growth for fleet companies.
During a fireside chat on October 15, Dr. Clovis Pilla, Country Manager of Yango Cameroon, explained the platform's model, highlighting that Yango does not own or operate vehicles. Instead, its technology connects users with independent partner drivers and coordinates trips, while services are provided by Cameroonian drivers and transport companies. This distinction enables local value creation, generating income for partner drivers, growth for fleet companies, and more practical urban mobility for residents.
Yango also hosted a masterclass on becoming a partner driver or fleet partner, which was attended by over 50 participants. The session covered registration, required documents, and profitability for independent drivers and fleet owners. Participants' questions focused on registration steps, required documents, and potential activities they could develop, aligning with the summit's agenda on youth employment and entrepreneurship.
For many young Cameroonians, partnering with a platform like Yango provides an accessible entry point into the digital economy, provided they meet regulatory requirements. To become a partner, individuals must have a vehicle, necessary permits and documents, and a smartphone, and pass Yango's verification process. The fleet model offers further opportunities, as entrepreneurs like YFLEET, Smart Express, and BestFleet Auto have built transport companies employing drivers and expanding their fleets through the platform.
Yango's engagement in Cameroon extends beyond its application, with the company partnering with Douala and Yaoundé municipalities in 2025 to organize safety awareness and free health check-ups for partner drivers. The company also recognizes its partners' professionalism through annual awards and celebrations, such as the International Drivers' Day. Furthermore, Yango Group invests in the next generation of Cameroonian tech talent through its support for the Technovation Challenge, a global program educating young girls in technology and entrepreneurship.
Commenting on Yango's participation in CITS26, Dr. Clovis Pilla stated that technology has value when it positively impacts people's daily lives. Yango's platform connects users with needed services while providing thousands of drivers and over 150 local transport companies with opportunities to develop their businesses. The summit concluded with a call to link Cameroon's talents and ambitions with necessary partnerships, financing, and markets to produce tangible results, and Yango's contribution illustrated a response to this call.
