The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) in Kenya has transitioned its registration process for TSC numbers to an exclusively online platform. As of 2026, prospective teachers can apply through the Government’s eCitizen platform. This change aims to streamline the application process. The Commission no longer accepts paper applications. Applicants must prepare digital copies of required documents before starting the registration process.

To apply for a TSC number, applicants must upload clear, authentic scanned copies of several documents. These include a national identity card, primary and secondary school certificates, university or college graduation certificate, full set of academic transcripts, Certificate of Good Conduct, clearance certificate from a licensed Credit Reference Bureau, and a completed GP69 medical examination form. Additionally, applicants need to provide a KRA PIN certificate and a recent colour passport-size photograph.

Expatriate teachers have an additional requirement: a letter of clearance from the Ministry of Education Vetting Committee. Once the necessary documents are ready, applicants can proceed to the official TSC registration portal on the Commission’s website. They should select the appropriate registration option, with Kenyan citizens applying for the first time choosing the new-registration category for Kenyan citizens.

During the application process, applicants will be required to enter their personal details. This includes their national identity card number, surname, mobile phone number, email address, KRA PIN, registration category, and whether they are a trained teacher. They will also need to provide their KCSE, KCE, KACE, EACE, or EAACE mean grade and year of examination.

The online registration process aims to reduce errors and increase efficiency. Applicants are advised to avoid submitting sensitive personal documents through unofficial websites or paying individuals who claim they can guarantee registration. The TSC number registration cost is KES 1,050, while the duplicate certificate application fee is KES 2,050.

The Commission’s move to an online platform is part of its efforts to modernize and improve the registration process for teachers. By digitizing the process, the TSC aims to make it easier for prospective teachers to apply for TSC numbers. This change is expected to reduce the time and effort required to complete the registration process.

The online TSC number registration process is now live, and prospective teachers can access the official TSC registration portal on the Commission’s website. Applicants can follow the provided instructions to complete their applications. The TSC encourages applicants to ensure they have all required documents ready before starting the registration process to avoid any delays or complications.
