Yako Bank (U) Limited, incorporated in Uganda in 2010, has been licensed as a Credit Institution by the Bank of Uganda since 2020. Initially operating as Yako Microfinance (U) Limited, it upgraded its license and rebranded as Yako Bank (U) Limited. The bank offers savings and lending products to clients and is now recruiting a Finance Officer to support its financial operations.

The Finance Officer will be responsible for preparing and submitting weekly and monthly returns to the Bank of Uganda, tax returns, and payroll and statutory deductions. The role involves supporting the Finance Supervisor with monthly returns and General Ledger reconciliation schedules while ensuring compliance with financial policies and regulatory deadlines.

Key duties include preparing the Weekly Liquidity Risk Return and submitting it via the BSA portal, supporting the preparation of Form BS100, and submitting tax returns such as PAYE, Withholding Tax, Value Added Tax, and Corporate Income Tax. The Finance Officer will also maintain tax reconciliations, respond to tax queries, and prepare monthly journals for tax provisions and statutory deductions.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized university, with a professional accounting qualification such as CPA (U) or ACCA. At least 2-3 years of relevant experience in finance, tax, or payroll, preferably in a bank or financial institution, is required. Knowledge of Uganda tax laws and the NSSF Act is essential.

The Finance Officer will process payroll and statutory deductions accurately and on time, maintaining payroll records reconciled to the General Ledger. The role also involves assisting with General Ledger reconciliation schedules, posting transactions, and logging exceptions and control breaches in the Exceptions Register.
