The Watchdog for Good Governance, WFGG, has highly rated Hon. Victor Abang Bisong, the member representing Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency in Nigeria's House of Representatives. WFGG cited Abang's impressive performance in his constituency, which earned him the best-performing federal lawmaker from Cross River State. The group praised Abang's efforts in executing various projects across the 22 wards of Ikom and Boki Local Government Areas.
WFGG's assessment was based on Abang's 2026 scorecard, verified constituency projects, and interventions in various sectors. These sectors include education, roads, healthcare, water supply, electricity, telecommunications, agriculture, sports, and human capital development. The group verified that Abang's interventions had a significant impact on the lives of his constituents. WFGG's spokesman, Comrade Justine Agbor, highlighted the positive outcomes of Abang's efforts.
In the education sector, WFGG noted that Abang renovated over 12 primary schools and constructed classroom blocks in several communities. Some of the notable projects include the renovation of primary schools at Etikpe, Alesi, Bekpor Irruan, Lutheran Primary School in Panya, and Ubong. Additionally, Abang constructed and equipped a secondary school facility at Etikpe, Ikom. These projects have improved the learning environment for students in the constituency.
WFGG also cited several road projects executed by Abang, including the Kakwagom, Oki, Borum, and Njua Kaku corridor, among others. The group noted that these projects have improved transportation and accessibility in the constituency. Abang's efforts also extended to the telecommunications sector, where 32 to 35 rural communities regained network connectivity. At least 25 of these interventions were independently verified.
The group praised Abang's healthcare interventions, including the provision of medical equipment to Abo Ebam Health Centre and medical outreach in Nde. WFGG also noted the rehabilitation of boreholes and health facilities, solar power support, and advocacy for a Federal Medical Centre in Boki. Furthermore, Abang's efforts towards completing the NDDC Specialist Hospital in Ikom have been acknowledged.
WFGG highlighted Abang's human capital development initiatives, which have benefited over 4,000 constituents. These initiatives include grants, educational support, skills training, disability empowerment programs, women and youth programs, and motorcycle distribution. The group also noted Abang's legislative efforts, including sponsoring or pursuing bills for the establishment of a Federal College of Agriculture and Forestry, Federal Medical Centre, and Federal College of Education (Technical).
WFGG concluded that Abang's performance reflects his sustained focus on constituency development. The group has concluded plans for a massive mobilisation of voters for Abang's re-election, with Comrade Agbor stating that "second term is not negotiable."
