A video circulating on TikTok, dated October 15, 2026, appears to show French President Emmanuel Macron expressing concerns about Burkina Faso's Tafouk TV and Nanga armored vehicles. The video claims Macron questioned the effectiveness of these initiatives, sparking serious concerns. However, a thorough examination by PesaCheck, a fact-checking organization, has revealed that the video is manipulated. The video's audio was generated using artificial intelligence, and the lip movements of the person in the video do not match the speech.

PesaCheck conducted a reverse image search on Yandex, which led to a January 21, 2026, publication featuring President Macron discussing European interests and principles. Further investigation revealed that the original video was uploaded to the Élysée's YouTube channel on January 20, 2026, as part of a press conference from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. This conference took place from January 19 to 23, 2026.

An analysis of the TikTok video's audio using Humantext.pro confirmed that it was 100% generated by artificial intelligence. A close observation of the video also revealed that the speaker's tone was monotone and lacked emphasis. A Google search using relevant keywords did not yield any similar statements from President Macron or his government regarding Tafouk TV and Nanga armored vehicles.

The manipulated video surfaced during a significant period, as the Confederation of Sahel States was launching Tafouk TV, the television arm of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). Around the same time, Captain Ibrahim Traoré presented the Nanga armored vehicles, which were manufactured in Burkina Faso. The video's dissemination appears to be part of a broader disinformation campaign.

PesaCheck's findings are part of an ongoing effort to verify content flagged as potential disinformation on social media platforms, including Facebook and TikTok. The organization seeks to combat the spread of false information and promote fact-based reporting. This particular video has been confirmed as a deepfake, and its origins remain unclear.

The use of artificial intelligence to generate audio and manipulate videos has become increasingly sophisticated, making it challenging to distinguish between authentic and fabricated content. This incident highlights the need for vigilance and fact-checking in the digital age, particularly when consuming information from social media platforms.

The viral video's impact on public perception and opinion remains uncertain; however, PesaCheck's verification serves as a crucial reminder to critically evaluate information, especially when it appears suspicious or too good (or bad) to be true. By debunking this manipulated video, PesaCheck aims to promote media literacy and encourage responsible sharing of information.
