Uncover Skincare has launched its Glow Balm Hydrating Lip Treatment in Kenya and Nigeria, providing a lip care formula that offers protection, hydration, and gloss simultaneously. The product is built on the idea that lips deserve a formula worthy of them, rejecting the trade-offs traditionally associated with lip care. The launch of Glow Balm also marks the opening of Uncover Skincare's new Ikeja Hub, located at 1 Opebi Rd, Allen, Ikeja, Lagos. This new space will serve as a community hub for the brand, allowing customers to experience Uncover Skincare in person. For decades, lip care has been treated as a cosmetic afterthought, despite lips being one of the most exposed parts of the face.
Uncover Skincare's Co-Founder and COO, Jade Oyateru, stated that the brand built Glow Balm because the category never built a formula worthy of melanated lips. The product combines four complementary UV filters for SPF 30, a nourishing blend of shea butter, squalane, and argan oil for lasting hydration, and a structured gloss finish. A peppermint ritual is also layered into the product, making reapplication feel earned rather than obligatory.
To celebrate the launch, Uncover Skincare hosted an intimate evening centered on the future of beauty and the growing conversation around lip care. The event featured a fireside conversation, "Taking Up Space," between Jade Oyateru and content creator and actor Enioluwa Adeoluwa. They explored Jade's journey, Uncover Skincare's evolution into lip care, and the story behind Glow Balm.
The event also included a panel discussion, "The New Rules of Beauty," which explored the evolution of beauty care, lip SPF, hybrid beauty, and the growing need for products created with melanin-rich consumers in mind. Glow Balm Hydrating Lip Treatment is now available in Kenya and Nigeria, priced at KES 1,800 and NGN 15,000, respectively. The product can be purchased through Uncover Skincare's D2C site and retail partners in both markets, including Lip Tribe in Kenya. For daily use, customers can apply Glow Balm to clean lips morning and evening, alone or over lip color.
