The Unam Jaguars Netball Club emerged as the top winners at the Khomas Netball League award ceremony held on Saturday. The team dominated the Super 10 League, finishing with 66 points after winning 15 and losing only three of their 18 league matches. Their impressive performance earned them the top honors, showcasing their strength and consistency throughout the season.
Go Monate Fella secured the second position in the Super 10 League, edging out Tigers on goal difference, as both teams finished with 61 points. In the Second Division, Afrocat Lions A demonstrated exceptional skill, winning all 16 of their matches to accumulate 71 points and claim the top spot. Nust finished second with 61 points, while Afrocat Lions B took third place with 36 points.
The third division saw Go Monate Fella take the lead, narrowly beating Nust, as both teams finished with 46 points. Young Generations secured the third position with 43 points. The award ceremony also recognized individual performances, with Helena Shindondola of Go Monate Fella named the overall best player, and Kelly Muvangua of Unam Jaguars receiving the overall best player award in the Super 10 League.
The ceremony also honored the best players in each division, including Alcina Hamunyela of Nust as the Super 10 Best Attacker, and Gloria Kurangera of Nust as the Best Defender. In the Second Division, Leticia Hindongo of Afrocat Lions was named Best Attacker, and Naleli Simanza of Afrocat Lions received the Best Defender award. Rauna Hamakali of Young Generations was recognized as the Third Division Best Attacker.
The awards extended beyond individual performances, with Nust being named Club of the year and receiving several other accolades, including the S10 Golden Hoop and S10 Golden Glove. Afrocat Lions won the 2nd Division Golden Hoop and Golden Glove, while Go Monate Fela took home the 3rd Division Golden Hoop and Golden Glove.
The ceremony also acknowledged the contributions of various individuals and teams, including Mariud Elliot of New Era, who was named Best Media Reporter, and Erica van Zyl of Probrand, who received an appreciation certificate. Paulus Shilongo was recognized as the best umpire, and Isadore Nel as the best team manager.
Other notable awards included the Administrator of the year, Klaudia KK Mbeeli, and the Most branded club, which went to Nust. The Most disciplined club award was given to Trustco United, and the Most improved club award went to Tigers. The Sportsmanship Award was given to Nust, and the Best coaches awards were given to David Faustinus and Augusta Mbai.
