The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has posted a job advertisement for a HDP Nexus and Partnerships Advisor to work in its Kampala, Uganda office. The UNDP is the United Nations' global development network, operating in approximately 170 countries and territories. Its primary goal is to eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities, and exclusion by helping countries develop policies, leadership skills, and institutional capabilities.
The HDP Nexus and Partnerships Advisor will play a crucial role in UNDP's strategic engagement with bilateral and multilateral development partners to strengthen resource mobilization in Uganda. The Advisor will provide strategic donor intelligence, build and sustain partnerships with various stakeholders, including development partners, the private sector, civil society, and the UN system.
Key responsibilities of the HDP Nexus and Partnerships Advisor include leading strategic guidance and advice for the country office's programming and delivery on the Humanitarian, Development, and Peace (HDP) nexus approach. The Advisor will also develop new opportunities for HDP work, provide advice on identifying entry points for the HDP nexus, and offer strategic guidance to national HDP institutions and actors on policy issues.
The Advisor will provide strategic guidance and advice to UNDP Senior Management on integrated HDP initiatives, strategies, responses, and changes in the broader HDP context. Additionally, the Advisor will support the Governance, Peace, and Security Unit in its programs and activities, lead strategic advocacy and partnership development, and build, coordinate, and maintain strategic relationships with key partners and donors.
The HDP Nexus and Partnerships Advisor will analyze donor trends, policies, and financing instruments to identify emerging opportunities, risks, and implications for UNDP Uganda. The Advisor will also develop and implement donor-specific resource mobilization strategies, identify funding opportunities, and support negotiation and management of donor agreements and funding portfolios.
The incumbent will provide oversight to the CO Communications Team and lead CO Knowledge Management Initiatives. This includes coordinating the submission of high-quality and timely reports to donors, maintaining systems to promote compliance with grant and agreement terms, and providing technical support to programme managers for donor reports.
To qualify for the position, candidates must have an advanced university degree in International Development, Economics, Business Administration, Political or Social Sciences, or a related field. The HDP Nexus and Partnerships Advisor will work under the supervision of the Resident Representative and provide strategic oversight of compliance and quality assurance in accordance with established UNDP standards.
