The Senegalese Office for the Suppression of Illicit Trafficking of Narcotics (Ocrtis) has dismantled part of a suspected haschisch trafficking network operating between Casablanca and Dakar. On October 31, a Senegalese truck driver alerted police to a suspicious package emitting a strong odor. An investigation led to the discovery of eight bundles of haschisch hidden in shoe soles.

The haschisch, comprising 32 balls, was found in a package that had been sent from Casablanca. Following the discovery, the package was handed over to Moroccan police, and Ocrtis organized a controlled delivery to track the movement and identify those involved. The operation resulted in the arrest of two suspects, who were taken into custody for further questioning.

The first suspect, M. M. Mbacké, 25, claims to be a livestock breeder and resides in the HLM 5 neighborhood. A search of his home led to the seizure of an additional ball of haschisch and two partially used Alprazolam tablets. Mbacké's arrest marked a significant breakthrough in the case, with authorities hoping to uncover more details about the trafficking network.

The second suspect, R. Kane, 28, is an agent commercial and was arrested in the Soprim Extension area. During interrogation, Kane reportedly admitted to acting as an intermediary in the haschisch trafficking operation and provided the identity of the intended recipient of the narcotics. Her testimony is expected to shed more light on the network's operations.

The controlled delivery and subsequent arrests demonstrate the effectiveness of Senegalese authorities' efforts to combat narcotics trafficking. The Ocrtis operation highlights the ongoing challenges in the region, where traffickers continue to seek innovative ways to smuggle illicit substances. Authorities remain vigilant in their pursuit of those involved in such activities.

The seized haschisch and other narcotics are being held as evidence, and the suspects are facing charges related to narcotics trafficking. The case is part of a broader effort to disrupt and dismantle trafficking networks operating in the region. Further investigations are expected to uncover more details about the network and potentially lead to additional arrests.

The successful operation is a testament to the collaboration between Senegalese and Moroccan authorities in the fight against narcotics trafficking. The arrests of Mbacké and Kane serve as a warning to those involved in such activities, as law enforcement agencies continue to strengthen their efforts to combat the trafficking of illicit substances.
