The Oyo State Police Command has made two arrests in connection with the abduction of a 38-year-old man, Nathaniel Peter, in Layeri Village, via Ikoyi-Ile, Oriire Local Government Area of the state. The suspects, identified as Muhammadu Abubakar and 17-year-old Jayun Danali, are assisting investigators with information concerning the incident. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, the arrests were made as part of efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the abduction and secure the victim's safe rescue.
The abduction occurred on September 24, at about 4:20am, when three armed men invaded a family compound in the community and forcibly entered Peter's room before abducting him. The assailants reportedly escaped through the National Reserve Forest with the victim's Hajue motorcycle and mobile phone. Ayanlade said the incident was reported to the police at about 5:50 pm the same day, prompting operatives to visit the scene and commence investigation.
The Oyo State Police Command has intensified coordinated operations to rescue Peter and apprehend the fleeing members of the gang. Ayanlade said the arrests had provided "useful investigative leads" towards identifying and apprehending other persons connected with the incident.
