The Turkish Embassy in Cameroon marked a major diplomatic milestone on October 29, 2026, hosting a grand reception in Yaoundé to celebrate the 103rd National Day of the Republic of Turkiye. The event brought together a distinguished gathering of diplomatic corps members, foreign military attachés, cabinet ministers, national dignitaries, senior officers of the armed forces, traditional rulers, parliamentarians, and key civil society figures.

The Government of the Republic of Cameroon was officially represented at the event by Mr. Oumarou Chinmoun, Secretary General in the Ministry of External Relations, MINREX. This underscores the deep mutual respect, shared commitment, and robust diplomatic rapport that unite Yaoundé and Ankara.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkiye to Cameroon, His Excellency Volkan Oskiper, delivered a comprehensive address centered on the enduring ideals of the country’s founding father, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. He reminded the audience that the Republic emerged from the unyielding determination of a people resolved to chart their own destiny on the bedrock of national sovereignty, total independence, and continuous progress.

Ambassador Oskiper noted that political dialogue between both capitals has gained remarkable momentum in recent years, with economic exchanges growing substantially, while cooperation in defense, education, diplomacy, culture, and humanitarian affairs continues to unlock fresh, mutually beneficial opportunities. High-level reciprocal visits have further fueled this vibrant dynamic.

He called for advancing toward joint co-production, structured skills transfer, local job creation, and targeted support for young Cameroonian entrepreneurs.

Ambassador Oskiper reaffirmed Turkiye's commitment to humanitarian assistance, pledging continued support for vulnerable populations, with a focus on women, young girls, and children. He also highlighted the unifying power of culture and sport, citing community football matches and art exhibitions as vital bridges of friendship.

Describing Cameroon as a bright nation and the undisputed economic engine of Central Africa, the Ambassador emphasized that Yaoundé is a key regional partner for Turkiye.
