The head of the Local Development Council in Bousalem, Rami Al-Awadi, recently spoke about the challenges related to the supply of basic materials and job opportunities in the region. In an interview with Assabah News, Al-Awadi discussed the council's efforts to address these issues. The council recently held a meeting with representatives from the Regional Trade and Export Development Administration to examine the supply of basic materials and ways to reduce disruptions in distribution.

The meeting focused on the need for closer monitoring of distribution channels and verification of compliance with allocated quantities and destinations. This aims to ensure that basic materials, such as vegetable oil and flour, reach consumers regularly and fairly. The council also emphasized the importance of monitoring invoicing and combating unfair practices, including monopolies, speculation, and breaches of distribution rules.

Al-Awadi highlighted the importance of proactive intervention in case of supply disruptions, involving field monitoring and rapid coordination between stakeholders, particularly in areas with high demand. The council also stressed the need for better coordination between local council members and regional trade authorities to quickly identify and address any shortages or disruptions in supply.

Citizens were encouraged to play a role in monitoring distribution channels and reporting any breaches, such as the loss of basic materials or unjustified price increases. Al-Awadi noted that rapid reporting can help authorities intervene and take necessary actions. The council's efforts aim to ensure a stable and fair supply of basic materials to consumers.

The region is currently experiencing a surge in recruitment in the electrical wire and cable industry, with multiple institutions in Jundubah and Bajah announcing job openings. Al-Awadi sees this as a positive indicator for job creation, particularly for young people and women. However, he also noted that attracting and retaining workers raises concerns about working conditions, transportation, wages, and job security.

Jundubah has a young and trainable workforce, but the challenge lies not only in providing job opportunities but also in establishing and expanding industrial institutions within the region. This would enable job opportunities to drive local development. The proximity of industrial institutions in Bajah to Jundubah makes it a competitor for labor, particularly for residents in nearby areas.

Al-Awadi believes that this dynamic can be leveraged to promote the creation of more industrial projects and institutions within Jundubah, rather than simply providing labor for institutions established outside the region. The Local Development Council's efforts aim to address the region's challenges and promote sustainable development.
