The head of Tunisia's National Union of Agriculture and Fishing, Moez Zghdane, has stressed that training in the agricultural sector is a key driver of improved productivity and food security. Speaking at a closing ceremony for training sessions organized by the Sfax Regional Union of Agriculture and Fishing, Zghdane noted that participants had acquired technical skills enabling them to engage in the economy and launch livestock projects.
Zghdane revealed that the main concerns of trainees were related to financing, urging financial institutions to support them in launching their projects. He emphasized that trainees possessed the necessary technical expertise to initiate their ventures. The training sessions, which focused on livestock farming, had attracted significant interest from farmers.
According to Noura Al-Zidi, Regional Director of Employment and Vocational Training in Sfax, the response to the training sessions was overwhelming, with over 100 farmers participating, exceeding the initial target of 75. Al-Zidi confirmed that participants would receive certificates of participation, which would be recognized by financing institutions.
Al-Zidi emphasized that efforts were underway to ensure greater recognition of these certificates by financing institutions, enabling farmers to benefit from them when applying for project financing. This development is expected to facilitate access to funding for farmers who have completed the training sessions.
