Tunisia's National Tourism Office will participate in the China Outbound Travel and Inbound Tourism Expo, scheduled to take place in Beijing from October 14 to 16, 2026. This event aims to enhance Tunisia's visibility in the Chinese tourism market and foster cooperation between the two countries in the tourism sector. The expo will bring together representatives from various tourist destinations, travel organizers, and service providers.
The COITM expo serves as a professional platform that gathers representatives from different tourist destinations with travel organizers and buyers of travel services in China. The 2026 edition is expected to feature over 30 tourist destinations, around 200 exhibitors, and approximately 3,000 professionals, visitors, and buyers from China and abroad. Tunisia's participation in this event will provide an opportunity to showcase its tourism resources and products.
During the expo, the Tunisian National Tourism Office will present the country's tourism offerings to Chinese travel organizers, service providers, and incentive travel planners. The office will also explore opportunities for cooperation and partnerships with Chinese tourism professionals. Additionally, it will provide information on entry procedures, local tourism services, and available support and cooperation.
The visa exemption policy for Chinese tourists, which came into effect in September 2023, has contributed to the growth of tourism between Tunisia and China. Chinese citizens with ordinary passports can now enter Tunisia without a visa and stay for up to 90 days. This policy has facilitated travel and is expected to boost tourism exchange between the two countries.
In 2025, Tunisia welcomed approximately 28,000 Chinese tourists, representing a 19.3% increase compared to 2024. During the first quarter of 2026, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Tunisia grew by 12%. Furthermore, the number of Chinese tourists arriving in Tunisia during the Chinese New Year holiday in 2026 increased by 20% compared to the same period in the previous year.
The Tunisian National Tourism Office's participation in the COITM expo is part of its efforts to develop tourism products tailored to the Chinese market and enhance tourism exchange between Tunisia and China. By showcasing its tourism resources and products, Tunisia aims to attract more Chinese tourists and strengthen its presence in the Chinese tourism market.
The expo will provide a platform for Tunisia to promote its tourism industry and establish partnerships with Chinese tourism professionals. With the growing demand for tourism in China, Tunisia is well-positioned to capitalize on this opportunity and increase its share of the Chinese tourism market.
