The Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi, has expressed his satisfaction with the progress of work on the new St. Dominic College of Education being established at Tuobodom in the Techiman North District of Ghana. He made these remarks after inspecting the ongoing construction works at the site alongside the District Chief Executive for Techiman North, Johnson Adom. The minister noted that the Bono East Region currently has only one College of Education located at Atebubu.
The introduction of two new colleges, one at Tuobodom and the other at Jema, will increase the region's teacher training capacity. This development will significantly enhance teaching and learning in the region. The Bono East Regional Minister commended the contractor for the impressive pace and quality of work so far. He mentioned that although construction started recently, the contractor has completed the substructure and foundation works and is now raising pillars.
The District Chief Executive for Techiman North, Johnson Adom, provided background information on the project. He stated that the western part of the region has been without a College of Education, putting pressure on the only college at Atebubu. The DCE noted that the region is geographically divided into two parts: the western part with about six districts and the eastern part with about five districts.
The eastern part has the benefit of a College of Education located at Atebubu, while the western part lacks one. This has led to increased pressure on the Atebubu college during admission. According to the DCE, the Member of Parliament for Techiman North, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, initiated the project and secured accreditation for the land and construction before government absorption.

The Tuobodom college, now registered as St. Dominic College of Education, is receiving comprehensive infrastructure through GETFund. The projects include an administration block, hostels for males and females, principal's and vice-principal's residences, an assembly hall, dining hall, kitchen, lecture hall complex, and eight apartments for lecturers. The DCE noted that the new college will have a complete infrastructure.
The DCE mentioned that they have to start with the construction of a wall, entrance, and internal roads. This is a complete College of Education. With the addition of St. Dominic College of Education, the region will have three Colleges of Education, enhancing teacher training and education in the region.
