The Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Maritime Fishing has established the dates and conditions for the 2026-2027 hunting season. Additionally, the ministry has set the dates for waterfowl and other bird species, which will be hunted from November 22, 2026, to March 28, 2027.
The decision also sets the fees for hunting licenses. For small game, the fee is 30 dinars for Tunisians and foreign residents born in Tunisia, and 200 dinars for foreign temporary residents. For big game, the fee is 90 dinars for Tunisians and 150 dinars for foreign temporary residents. A contribution of 10 dinars, or 20 dinars for special species, will also be required for the National Union of Hunters' Associations.
The ministry has also banned the hunting of certain species to protect them, including rare mammals and birds. The decision prohibits hunting in military and security zones, as well as within a 1,000-meter radius of military installations and a 500-meter radius of oil and gas facilities, national parks, and natural reserves.
The decision also sets daily hunting quotas for small game, including rabbits, partridges, and quail. Hunters will be allowed to hunt a maximum of two rabbits, six partridges, and ten quail per day. For waterfowl and other bird species, hunters will be allowed to hunt a maximum of 40 birds per day.
The ministry has also established regulations for big game hunting, including the requirement that hunting parties be limited to 15 hunters, with a team leader. Hunters will be required to wear bright orange vests, and applications for hunting permits must be submitted electronically at least 15 days and no more than 45 days before the hunt.
