According to the statistics published by the ONAGRI, the quantities of Tunisian olive oil exported during the first 10 months of the 2025/2026 campaign (November 2025 - August 2026) reached 381.2 thousand tons, representing a 50.8% increase in volume and 41.2% in value compared to the previous campaign. The total value of these exports was 4780.4 MDT. This significant growth indicates a positive trend for Tunisia's olive oil industry.
The export data shows that 55.4 thousand tons of packaged olive oil were exported, representing a 48.7% increase compared to the previous campaign. Packaged olive oil accounted for 14.5% of the total quantities exported, while bulk olive oil made up 85.5%. The extra-virgin category dominated the exports, accounting for 83.5% of the total volume. These figures highlight the diversity of Tunisia's olive oil products in the international market.
Despite the significant volume of packaged olive oil exports, the revenue generated from these exports was relatively low. According to the ONAGRI, only 19.3% of the total revenue came from packaged olive oil exports. In contrast, bulk olive oil exports generated a larger share of the revenue. This disparity may be attributed to the varying prices of different olive oil products in the global market.
The price of olive oil also saw an increase in August 2026, rising by 7.1% compared to the same period in the previous campaign. The average price per kilogram increased from 12.42 D/kg to 13.31 D/kg. The prices varied across different categories, ranging from 8.41 D/kg to 17.12 D/kg. This price increase may be attributed to various market and production factors.
Tunisia's olive oil was exported to over 82 countries during the first 10 months of the 2025/2026 campaign. The European Union was the largest market, accounting for 56.6% of the total export volume. Spain and Italy were the top destinations, with 31.9% and 19.8% of the total exports, respectively. The North American market, particularly the United States and Canada, also received a significant share of Tunisia's olive oil exports.
In addition to the European and North American markets, Tunisia's olive oil was also exported to Asia and Africa. The Asian market accounted for 11.5% of the total exports, with Saudi Arabia and Jordan being the main destinations. The African market represented 3.7% of the total exports, with Egypt being the largest importer. These diverse export markets indicate Tunisia's growing presence in the global olive oil industry.
Tunisia's organic olive oil exports also saw significant growth during the first 10 months of the 2025/2026 campaign. The volume of organic olive oil exports reached 53 thousand tons, valued at approximately 699.7 MDT.
