Tunisia's Ministry of Family Affairs, Women, Childhood, and Elderly has announced that it is now accepting applications from associations seeking public funding for projects focused on childhood. The ministry has set November 18, 2026, as the deadline for receiving applications. This initiative aims to support projects that align with the ministry's priorities in promoting childhood welfare.
The ministry has identified several key areas that will be targeted for funding, including supporting family capacities, protecting children in the digital space, environmental education, life skills, promoting a culture of children's rights, and preventing risky behaviors. To be eligible, associations must be in a sound legal situation in accordance with the decree number 88 of 2011 regulating associations and must demonstrate previous experience in implementing projects within these areas.
The ministry has specified that applications must include all necessary documents as outlined in chapters 7 and 9 of the decree number 5183 of 2013, which regulates the criteria, procedures, and conditions for granting public funding to associations. The evaluation of applications will be based on their alignment with the ministry's priorities and strategies in the Childhood Program, as well as specific criteria outlined in chapter 11 of the decree.
The criteria for evaluation include the economic study of the project, expected quantitative and qualitative results, the proposed approach and implementation deadlines, as well as the efficiency and scientific experience of the association's managers and the team overseeing the project. Associations can submit their applications via registered mail or courier, or in person at the ministry's central office in Tunis.
For those preferring electronic submission, applications can also be sent via the dedicated email address: [email protected]. The ministry encourages eligible associations to apply, emphasizing its commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance the well-being and protection of children in Tunisia.
This initiative by the Ministry of Family Affairs is part of a broader effort to engage civil society in addressing issues related to childhood and to ensure that projects implemented are aligned with national priorities for child welfare and development. The ministry's approach underscores the importance of collaboration with associations that have the expertise and experience to make a meaningful impact in these areas.
By providing funding for projects that support childhood, the ministry aims to contribute to the creation of a protective and nurturing environment for children, enabling them to grow and develop in a healthy and safe context. This effort is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of many children across Tunisia.
