Tunisia's date exports have achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 1 billion dinars in value for the first time during the 2026/2025 season. The total value of date exports reached over 1,000 million dinars, up from approximately 830 million dinars in the previous season. This development reflects the growing importance of the date sector within Tunisia's agricultural export system.
The quantity of dates exported also saw a notable increase, rising to around 160,000 tons from 125,000 tons in the 2025/2024 season. Germany, Italy, and France remain key destinations, with exports to Germany increasing from 10,000 tons to 16,000 tons, and Italy and France receiving around 19,000 tons and 14,000 tons, respectively.
Tunisia's date exports are not only growing in traditional markets but also expanding into new regions, particularly in Asia and the Americas. The country exported around 6,000 tons to India, 6,000 tons to the United States, 7,000 tons to Turkey, and 5,000 tons to Malaysia. The presence of new markets, such as Estonia, Cambodia, Cyprus, Sri Lanka, Jordan, and Belarus, further underscores the diversification of Tunisian date exports.
