The Union for the Mediterranean (UpM) has announced the financing of two projects aimed at supporting women entrepreneurs and strengthening their participation in digital commerce in Tunisia. The projects, "We Train" and "E-Fair", have received a total of €600,000 in funding. This initiative is part of a program to promote digital transformation and access to online markets. The projects will be implemented in Tunisia and other Mediterranean countries.
The "We Train" project has received a grant of €299,233 over 12 months. Its objective is to strengthen the digital, technical, and managerial skills of women entrepreneurs and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) led by women in Tunisia and four other Mediterranean countries. The project also aims to promote the use of e-commerce to develop the activities of beneficiaries and establish a Mediterranean network to foster cooperation, exchange of experiences, and mentorship between women-led enterprises.
The second project, "E-Fair", has obtained a grant of €300,000 for a duration of 15 months. Its goal is to strengthen the digital capacities of MSMEs led by women, cooperatives, and social and solidarity economy enterprises in Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, and Palestine. This will facilitate their access to e-commerce and new markets. The project also plans to strengthen the capacities of business support organizations and civil society actors, as well as networking with digital platforms, fair trade networks, and investors.
The UpM has announced the financing of four projects, totaling over €1.06 million, in five southern Mediterranean countries. These initiatives are financially supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development.
