The Ministry of Social Affairs in Tunisia has recently announced the launch of the 'Work Management Platform', a tool aimed at facilitating the work of labour inspectors. This platform was developed in collaboration with the International Labour Organization as part of the 'Responsible and Inclusive Social Dialogue for Sustainable Social Cohesion in Tunisia' project. The platform's primary goal is to provide labour inspectors with a professional tool to enhance their work efficiency.
According to the General Director of the Labour Inspection, Noureddine Triki, the platform is exclusively designed for labour inspectors and is not accessible to employers. He highlighted that there are other platforms available that cover various laws and regulations related to the world of work and labour disputes, which are accessible to employees. The platform aims to streamline the inspectors' tasks, allowing them to save time when processing files.
The 'Work Management Platform' will initially involve creating an information bank that includes data on all institutions, which will then be made available to labour inspectors as part of the pilot phase. This initiative is expected to improve the efficiency of labour inspectors and enable them to carry out their tasks more effectively. The platform will also help to reduce the time spent on manual tasks and increase the accuracy of inspections.
Starting from January 2027, the Ministry of Social Affairs plans to establish agreements with various organizations, ministries, and structures not currently included in the platform. The General Director of Labour Inspection noted that there is currently a lack of coordination and interconnection between several ministries and structures, which the platform aims to address. This will help to ensure a more comprehensive and integrated approach to labour inspection.
The Labour Inspection will organize regional training workshops on the use of the new platform for approximately 90 labour inspectors. These workshops will aim to equip inspectors with the necessary skills to effectively utilize the platform and enhance their work efficiency. The training sessions will cover various aspects of the platform, including data management, inspection procedures, and reporting.
The launch of the 'Work Management Platform' is part of the government's efforts to improve the labour inspection system in Tunisia. The platform is expected to contribute to the enhancement of labour standards and the promotion of social dialogue in the country. The Ministry of Social Affairs has emphasized its commitment to strengthening the labour inspection system and promoting decent work conditions for all employees.
The number of labour inspectors in Tunisia currently stands at around 230, and the government plans to reinforce the labour inspection corps with new recruits in the near future. The 'Work Management Platform' is expected to play a crucial role in supporting the work of labour inspectors and enhancing their effectiveness in promoting labour standards and protecting workers' rights.
