The Tunisian government has launched the application process for the 'Loan of Honor', a new financing mechanism aimed at providing financial support to individuals, small project owners, small and medium-sized enterprises, and private companies. This initiative was introduced through a decree issued in July 2026, which reformed banking facilities and the check system. The loan application process is carried out through a digital platform.
The 'Loan of Honor' offers financial support without burdening borrowers with interest or complex guarantees. According to the Banking and Financial Council, loan amounts vary based on the nature of the activity and the needs of the beneficiaries. Individuals can receive up to 5,000 dinars to cover personal and consumer expenses, while small project owners can obtain financing of up to 10,000 dinars to support their professional activities.
Small and medium-sized enterprises and private companies can receive loans of up to 25,000 dinars to enhance their financial stability and support their investment programs. The 'Loan of Honor' system is based on a set of direct facilities aimed at facilitating access to financing, including a zero percent interest rate and a complete exemption from bank interest and file study fees or additional commissions.
The 'Loan of Honor' system also features flexible repayment terms, with a maximum repayment period of two years and a possible six-month grace period. Banks are required to respond to loan requests within 10 working days from the date of submission, with a written explanation in case of refusal. The Banking and Financial Council emphasized that loan applications will be processed based on the 'priority according to registration date' principle.
The digital platform for loan applications will be used by all banks starting from October 1, 2026, to ensure transparency and equal opportunities for all applicants. This initiative aims to provide financial support to a wide range of individuals and businesses, promoting economic growth and development in Tunisia. The 'Loan of Honor' is a key component of the government's efforts to improve access to financing.
The Banking and Financial Council has provided detailed information about the 'Loan of Honor' through a video on its official Facebook page. The council aims to raise awareness about this new financing mechanism and its benefits for individuals and businesses. By providing easy access to financing, the government hopes to stimulate economic activity and job creation.
The launch of the 'Loan of Honor' application process marks an important step in Tunisia's efforts to improve access to financing and promote economic growth.
