The Nigerian Army has bolstered digital education in Ogun state with the commissioning of a state-of-the-art, solar-powered 30-seater computer laboratory at Agunbiade Victory High School in Magbon, Abeokuta. This initiative is part of the Chief of Army Staff's Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation Project, aimed at enhancing access to digital learning resources for students and residents. The facility is equipped with high-speed internet access and renewable energy infrastructure.

Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, represented by Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola, emphasized that the project aims to improve digital literacy and provide a conducive environment for teaching, learning, and research. The laboratory will enable students to acquire essential computer skills, preparing them for a rapidly changing world. This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the community, promoting knowledge sharing and technological empowerment.

Major General Ismail Dapo Oloyede, the project benefactor, expressed gratitude to the COAS for making his long-held desire to give back to his alma mater a reality. Agunbiade Victory High School played a significant role in shaping his life, and he hopes the computer laboratory will become a platform for learning, innovation, and development for students and other beneficiaries.

The Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Major General Mohammed Etsu IndagI, highlighted that the intervention is part of the Nigerian Army's efforts to strengthen its relationship with communities through practical development projects. The COAS CIMIC Special Intervention Project honors senior military officers by giving back to their communities, with projects including healthcare, water supply, schools, and infrastructure development.

The newly commissioned laboratory features 30 computer systems, high-speed internet connectivity, and a solar power system designed to provide reliable electricity for digital learning. The solar component promotes the adoption of renewable energy solutions, reducing dependence on conventional electricity supply. This project sets a precedent for sustainable development in education.

Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, commended corporate organizations, individuals, and old students for contributing to the revitalization of education in the state. He emphasized that the provision of 30 computers with solar power and internet connectivity ensures that students are not left behind in digital education, aligning with the state's efforts to improve educational infrastructure.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by senior military officers, officials of the Ogun State Ministry of Education, traditional rulers, and students.
