The Ministry of Social Affairs in Tunisia has officially launched a digital platform called "Labor Management Platform", primarily targeting labor inspectors and labor inspection services. This initiative is part of a collaboration with the International Labor Organization (ILO) within the project "Responsible and inclusive social dialogue for sustainable social cohesion in Tunisia". The platform was launched in a ceremony attended by Minister of Social Affairs Essam Al-Ahmar, ILO North Africa Office Director Halim Hamzawi, and Swiss Ambassador to Tunisia.
The platform consists of several functional units covering various areas of labor inspection, enabling the follow-up of work from the registration of files to their processing. It includes a unit for institutions, which is one of the platform's core components, containing data on institutions subject to labor inspection. This data will be used for paperless exchange with relevant administrative structures, such as the National Register of Institutions and the National Social Security Fund.
The platform also features a monitoring unit that allows for the registration of inspection visits to institutions, their results, and subsequent actions. The data and indicators recorded will help identify sectors and categories that require further monitoring and planning. Additionally, the platform enables the documentation of counseling and guidance provided by labor inspectors to workers and employers on social legislation and rights and obligations.
The platform includes a unit for work accidents, allowing for the registration and follow-up of accidents, as well as documentation of related data and actions taken. This aims to support the prevention of occupational risks and improve working conditions. Another unit is dedicated to conciliation, managing different stages of conciliation, including interventions, sessions, procedures, and outcomes.
Minister of Social Affairs Essam Al-Ahmar stated that the launch of the "Labor Management Platform", which will enter a trial phase until the end of December, marks a new step in the modernization of administration and development of work mechanisms. The platform will improve the performance of labor inspectors by providing them with data on institutions and a database to facilitate their tasks.
ILO North Africa Office Director Halim Hamzawi emphasized that the platform's development, supported by the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund and Swiss cooperation, represents a significant step in supporting and developing the labor inspection system. The platform will enable labor inspectors to better organize their work, improve monitoring, and provide accurate and up-to-date data for planning and decision-making.
The platform is expected to contribute to the improvement of labor inspection services, enhance social dialogue, and promote decent work and the prevention of labor conflicts. It will also facilitate the exchange of information between different administrative structures and improve the overall efficiency of labor inspection in Tunisia.
