His research experience includes working as a visiting researcher at several international universities and institutes in Japan, Germany, and the United States.
Dr. Abdel Monem's scientific interests focus on advanced materials, graphene, and two-dimensional materials, heterogeneous catalysts, printed electronics, and their applications in the Internet of Things (IoT). He is also interested in flexible sensors, clean energy technologies, and sustainable manufacturing. His goal is to translate research knowledge into practical solutions for industrial and technological applications.
During his tenure at the Egyptian-Japanese University of Science and Technology, Dr. Abdel Monem served as the founding dean of the College of Basic and Applied Sciences. He contributed to establishing the college's academic and research programs, as well as the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, the Center of Excellence for Graphene, and the Industrial Catalysts Laboratory.
Dr. Abdel Monem has published over 200 peer-reviewed research papers and holds four international patents. He has also supervised over 67 master's and Ph.D. theses and secured competitive research funding exceeding 100 million Egyptian pounds. His research and innovation efforts have earned him several national and international awards, including the State Prize for Excellence in Advanced Technological Sciences in 2024.
