The International Agricultural Investment and Technology Fair (SIAT) has opened its doors to the public at the Kram Exhibition Park in Tunisia. The 16th edition of the fair was officially inaugurated on October 28 and will run until October 31. This year's theme is "Investing in Resilient and Smart Agriculture to Strengthen Our Food Sovereignty." The event is organized every two years by the Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency (APIA).
Italy is participating in the fair with a 126-square-meter pavilion, the largest among national pavilions. The Italian pavilion was designed by the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) in Tunis, in collaboration with the National Federation of Agricultural and Gardening Machine Manufacturers and Components (FederUnacoma). Fifteen Italian agricultural machine brands are represented at the pavilion through their local distributors.
The Italian pavilion features a range of agricultural machinery, including tractors, inter-row and inter-plant sprayers, shredders, bio-shredders, mowers, treatment pumps, and olive harvest vibrators. Pieralisi, an Italian company with its own office in Tunisia, is showcasing an integrated line of products, including the MY BLEND mixer and the new Protoreattore. The Protoreattore is designed for small and medium-sized olive oil mills.
Another Italian company, New Holland, which is part of the CNH group, is also participating in the fair. They are exhibiting nine high-power tractors and two large combine harvesters. In addition to these companies, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) is present at the fair, showcasing a 55-million-euro credit line and the ADAPT program, funded by the European Union.
The Italian pavilion was visited by Tunisian Minister of Agriculture, Hydraulic Resources, and Fisheries Ezzeddine Ben Cheikh and his Senegalese counterpart Cheikhou Oumar Ba, who is the guest of honor at the fair. They were accompanied by Italian Ambassador Alessandro Prunas and Bernard Prevete, Director of the ICE office in Tunis.
The Italian Ambassador to Tunisia, Alessandro Prunas, stated that the large presence of Italian companies, machines, technologies, and programs at the Tunisian agricultural fair demonstrates the strength of a strategic partnership. This partnership, at the heart of the Mattei Plan, aims to strengthen ties between Europe and Africa in favor of innovative, sustainable, and resilient agriculture.
The SIAT fair provides a platform for countries to showcase their agricultural technologies and innovations. The event brings together various stakeholders, including governments, companies, and experts, to discuss and promote sustainable agricultural practices. The fair also offers opportunities for networking and collaboration among participants.
