The Islamic Center for Trade Development has highlighted Tunisia's potential to develop its halal trade and increase exports. According to Mamadou Boucar Sal, Assistant Director-General of the center, Tunisia has significant opportunities to grow its halal trade and exports to various markets. He made these remarks during the opening of the first International Halal Forum in Tunis.

Sal emphasized the need to develop a certification system for halal products and facilitate access for Tunisian institutions to external markets. He identified key sectors, including food industries, olive oil, fishing products, financial services, tourism, and cosmetics, as having significant potential for growth. Developing these sectors could contribute to Tunisia's economic growth.

To develop the halal sector in Tunisia, Sal stressed the importance of enhancing the certification system for halal food products and supporting exports. He also suggested developing tourism services, communications, and logistics. These steps could help increase Tunisia's presence in the global halal market.

Sal proposed establishing a higher council for halal products under the supervision of the Ministry of Trade and Export Development. This council would bring together various stakeholders, including the Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade, and Traditional Industries, the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency, and the Export Promotion Center. The council's goal would be to coordinate efforts and develop the halal economy.

The Assistant Director-General also called for organizing trade exchanges and investments between Tunisia and other countries, particularly those in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. He emphasized the need to further develop Islamic finance by issuing regulatory texts and laws. This would help create a favorable environment for the growth of the halal sector.

Tunisia's participation in international events, such as the Fizan conference, demonstrates its commitment to promoting its economy and trade. As a guest of honor at the first edition of the conference, Tunisia showcased its potential as a hub for trade and investment in the region. The country's strategic location makes it an attractive destination for investors and traders.

The development of Tunisia's halal trade and exports could have a positive impact on the country's economy. With the right strategies and partnerships, Tunisia can increase its presence in the global halal market and become a major player in the industry. The government and private sector must work together to achieve this goal and unlock the country's full potential.
