In a move aimed at reviving national agricultural lands, the Technical Advisory Committee for the revival of international agricultural lands in Banzart, Tunisia, has implemented a decision to revoke rights to a 47-hectare international agricultural land in Am Hani. The land, located in the delegation of Menzel Bourguiba, had been underutilized by its current occupant. The committee, comprising various stakeholders, carried out the decision on Thursday, 29 October 2026.

The international agricultural land, known as "Am Hani 2," spans 47 hectares, with approximately 37 hectares planted with over 4,800 olive trees. Additionally, about 10 hectares of arable land with some unused buildings, a hay storage facility, and equipment are part of the property. According to the Banzart governorate, the land's current occupant failed to properly utilize the land and carried out severe pruning of the olive trees without obtaining necessary permits from the Regional Agricultural Department.

The decision to revoke the rights to the land was made after completing several legal procedures, including notifications to the occupant. Authorities cited the occupant's failure to properly exploit the land and unauthorized severe pruning of olive trees, which resulted in a significant amount of firewood being sold without required licenses. The implementation of the decision was attended by local officials, including the delegate of Menzel Bourguiba, Ziad Harzallah, and representatives from various state departments.

The revocation of rights to the land was carried out in the presence of officials from the Regional Administration of State Properties and Real Estate Affairs, the Regional Directorate of Agricultural Development, and local law enforcement agencies. The land has been handed over to the authorities of the International Lands Office, pending further procedures to reallocate the land for productive use in accordance with applicable laws.

The Banzart governorate has been actively working to revive and optimize the use of international agricultural lands in the region. This move is part of a broader effort to boost agricultural production and development in Tunisia. The authorities have been taking measures to identify and reallocate underutilized lands for more productive purposes.

Local authorities have emphasized their commitment to ensuring that agricultural lands are used efficiently and in accordance with the law. The implementation of the decision to revoke rights to the Am Hani land is seen as a step towards achieving this goal. Further actions are expected to be taken to optimize the use of agricultural lands in the region.

The situation highlights the ongoing efforts of Tunisian authorities to manage and optimize the use of agricultural lands. The case of the Am Hani land demonstrates the authorities' resolve to enforce regulations and ensure that lands are used productively.
