A precision air strike conducted by the Air Component of the Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI has neutralized over 40 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists, including a high-ranking commander, in Borno State. The operation, carried out on October 10, 2026, targeted a heavily fortified ISWAP enclave in the Guzamala Local Government Area. The military received credible reports of a large concentration of ISWAP fighters gathered at the location to plan and launch coordinated attacks.

The air component deployed assets for targeted aerial surveillance, identifying the fighters' suspected hideouts and logistics facilities. A precision air strike was then unleashed directly on the primary building occupied by the insurgents. The targeted fighters belonged to ISWAP's "Murabitun" element, a specialized, highly mobile fighting unit responsible for conducting armed patrols and coordinating offensives.

The military operation resulted in significant human casualties and a severe logistical blow to the insurgent network. In addition to the 40 terrorists killed, the raid destroyed two operational vehicles and approximately 20 motorcycles used by the terrorists for mobility and supply runs. The destruction of these assets significantly degrades ISWAP's fighting capability and thwarts imminent attacks planned against military positions and surrounding civilian communities.

The Joint Task Force emphasized that the successful operation highlights the growing effectiveness of intelligence-led, technology-enabled, and tightly coordinated air and ground campaigns in dismantling terrorist infrastructures. The military vowed to continue utilizing combined air and ground operations to eliminate terrorist threats and protect vulnerable populations.

The operation's spokesman, Captain Mohammed Goni, released a statement confirming the success of the air strike. He said the military had received actionable, intelligence-driven surveillance reports indicating a large concentration of ISWAP fighters at the location. The reports allowed the military to take swift action against the insurgents.

The air strike is a significant blow to ISWAP's operations in the region, particularly in the Lake Chad basin. The military's efforts to maintain relentless pressure on remaining insurgent pockets are ongoing, with a commitment to regional security and restoring lasting peace and stability to Borno State and the wider North East region.

Further assessments are ongoing to determine the full extent of the damage inflicted on the terrorist network. The successful operation demonstrates the effectiveness of the military's strategy in combating terrorism in the region.
