Troops from Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully prevented a terrorist attack and rescued 14 kidnapped victims in separate operations across Kaduna and Katsina States. In Kaduna State, troops from Sector 1 set up an ambush in Rijana, Kachia Local Government Area, after receiving tips about terrorists moving through the bushes. The troops engaged the terrorists, causing them to flee, and subsequently discovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine with 13 bullets, a magazine carrier, and a military jungle hat. Additionally, a suspect named Jacob was apprehended in Awom village, Kachia LGA, with a homemade pistol and seven rounds of ammunition.
In Katsina State, troops from Sector 2 intercepted three suspected terrorist supply couriers on a motorcycle in Faskari Local Government Area on September 24. The suspects were allegedly transporting ₦2.7 million, believed to be ransom money, and three mobile phones for a terrorist leader. The suspects and items were taken into military custody for further investigation.
On September 25, troops in Faskari set up an ambush and engaged with terrorists, leading to the recovery of another AK-47 rifle, 30 rounds of ammunition, and a motorcycle. The same day, troops on routine patrol rescued 14 kidnapped individuals, comprising 12 men and two women, who were taken from Anguwan Miko and Tafoki villages in Faskari LGA.
The kidnapped victims were reportedly left behind by their captors when they spotted the approaching soldiers. The rescued individuals were handed over to local authorities in Faskari for further assistance. The Theatre Command stated that these operations demonstrate Operation FANSAN YAMMA's commitment to protecting communities, freeing captives, and limiting terrorist movements.
