In a gesture of appreciation, subjects and well-wishers of Tooro have gifted Prince Charles Kamurasi, head of the Babiito royal clan, a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado valued at 180 million shillings. The vehicle was handed over to Kamurasi on Saturday at Karuziika Palace in Fort Portal by Monsignor Isaiah Mayombo, chairperson of the organising committee for the coronation of the new king-designate. This act is a testament to Kamurasi's dedication and service to the Tooro kingdom.
According to Mayombo, the gift is a token of appreciation for Kamurasi's leadership, guidance, and commitment to the kingdom. He praised Kamurasi for demonstrating truthfulness, consistency, courage, wisdom, and trustworthiness, qualities that make him a role model for others serving Tooro. Fr Charles Oyo, spokesperson of the Babiito royal clan, emphasized that the initiative aimed to honour Kamurasi for his significant contributions to Tooro, especially during challenging times.
The fundraising campaign, which raised 180 million shillings, was driven by a desire to appreciate Kamurasi's long-standing service to Tooro. Michael Mugisa, one of the contributors, clarified that the vehicle is a personal gift to Kamurasi and does not belong to the office of the Musuuga. He also mentioned that the fundraising campaign is ongoing, with plans to establish a Musuuga Foundation to support activities associated with the office.
Prince Charles Kamurasi expressed gratitude to the people of Tooro for the generous gift, stating that it demonstrates their love and patriotism towards the kingdom. He also thanked them for remaining united following the death of Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
