High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has launched a grassroots mobilisation campaign in Nasarawa State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027. The campaign, led by the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, aims to garner support for Tinubu's second term. Tompolo, represented by High Chief Kestin Pondi, Managing Director of Tantita Security Services, urged the people of Nasarawa State to support Tinubu for another four-year term.
Tompolo cited ongoing construction projects in Nasarawa State as evidence of the impact of Tinubu's administration's policies and reforms. He noted that the reforms had created challenges but were necessary to deliver long-term economic benefits. According to Tompolo, the movement's assessment of developments along the road to Lafia showed significant progress, demonstrating the effectiveness of the administration's policies.
The economic reforms introduced by Tinubu's administration have increased resources available to state governments, eliminated petrol queues, and encouraged investment activity. Tompolo argued that these reforms require continuity, stating that four years would not be enough to fully realise their benefits. He cited planned investments in Nasarawa State, including a 6,000-metric-tonne lithium processing plant, housing projects, and industrialisation initiatives.
Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, commended the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement for its support for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC). Sule claimed that the state had cleared outstanding gratuities accumulated since its creation in 1996 and 2012. He attributed the development to the Tinubu administration's reforms, which had also encouraged investors to consider Nasarawa State by improving the investment environment.
Governor Sule revealed that the state had undertaken over N100 billion in capital projects without borrowing from commercial banks. He thanked the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement for providing vehicles and financial support for its grassroots mobilisation activities. Sule expressed confidence in the support of Nasarawa voters for Tinubu's re-election bid.
The National Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Sunday Asuku, said Tompolo had mandated the organisation to mobilise voters across Nasarawa State for Tinubu. Asuku urged Nigerians to compare the Tinubu administration's policies with the records of opposition politicians who had previously held public office. He vowed that the movement would continue its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 election.
The launch of the campaign featured the inauguration of coordinators across the state's local government areas and the presentation of vehicles to support the movement's grassroots mobilisation. Key to the campaign is the belief that Tinubu's economic reforms, despite challenges, are necessary for Nigeria's progress. The movement aims to mobilise voters from local government to local government, ward to ward, and polling unit to polling unit.
