A training session on installing electrical protection systems and wiring electrical panels began on September 28 in Kara, Togo. The event, organized by the Union of Regional Chambers of Crafts of Togo (UCRM-Togo) with financial support from the National Fund for Apprenticeship, Training, and Professional Development (FNAPP), targets electricians from the northern region. The training aims to enhance the skills of building electricians in installing electrical systems that meet safety standards.
The training, themed "Strengthening the capacities of building electrician artisans from the Savanes, Centrale, and Kara regional chambers of crafts in mastering the installation of electrical protection systems and wiring electrical panels," is being conducted by the DEEZPRO cabinet. The goal is to enable artisans to better master techniques for realizing electrical installations that conform to safety norms, thereby reducing the risks of fires, equipment damage, and accidents related to poor installations.
During the six-day training, participants will receive practical instruction on installing electrical protection systems and wiring electrical panels. The training will include hands-on exercises in manipulation, wiring, and testing. Lochina Moussa Mouhamadou, head of the FNAPP Kara office, emphasized that the initiative is part of the effort to professionalize the craft sector, a crucial component of the national economy. He encouraged beneficiaries to actively participate and derive maximum benefit from the training.
Tcha Eyana, the second vice-president of UCRM, highlighted the critical role of building electricians in ensuring the safety of homes, schools, hospitals, and other infrastructure. The training is expected to equip electricians with the skills needed to perform their jobs safely and effectively.
M. N’Tsouaglo Kokouvi, representing the director-general of DEEZPRO, indicated that the training will be primarily practical. He also mentioned that the cabinet plans to provide post-training support to ensure that the knowledge acquired is applied on the job. This follow-up will help to verify that the training objectives are being met and that the electricians are able to implement the new skills in their work.
