The Union for the Republic (UNIR) party in Togo's Assoli prefecture has launched an initiative to support needy students in the area. On September 30, the party distributed school kits to 305 meritorious and underprivileged students from six cantons in the prefecture. The kits, valued at over 5 million FCFA, include notebooks, pens, and financial envelopes. This gesture aims to encourage students to strive for better academic performance and provide equal opportunities for vulnerable students.

The distribution ceremony took place in Bafilo, the capital of Assoli prefecture. The event was attended by Bodé Idrissou Inoussa, president of the Education Commission and a deputy, who led the delegation. Inoussa emphasized the importance of academic excellence, regular attendance, and respect for teachers and parents. He explained that the initiative was born out of a concern for the low success rate in the prefecture compared to other regions.

According to Inoussa, the UNIR party's education commission has set a goal to achieve the best success rate in the Kara regional inspection by 2026. The party's efforts aim to address the challenges faced by students in the prefecture, particularly those from low-income families. By providing school kits and financial support, the party hopes to enable students to focus on their studies and improve their academic performance.

The school kits will benefit students from primary and secondary schools, as well as artisans in the prefecture. The financial envelopes will allow artisans to equip themselves after completing their training. This initiative has been welcomed by parents and students, who see it as a relief from the financial burden of buying school supplies.

Prefect of Assoli, Lt-Col Viagbo Mensah, encouraged students to work hard and express gratitude to the donors. He also urged parents and teachers to provide guidance and support to ensure the students' success at the end of the academic year. The prefect emphasized the importance of collaboration between stakeholders to promote education and development in the prefecture.

The UNIR party's initiative has been praised for its focus on promoting education and equality in the Assoli prefecture. By supporting needy students, the party aims to create a positive impact on the community and contribute to the country's development. The distribution of school kits is part of a broader effort to address the challenges faced by students in the prefecture and improve their academic prospects.

The Togolese Press Agency reported that the distribution of school kits was well-received by the beneficiaries. The event marked a significant milestone in the UNIR party's efforts to promote education and support vulnerable students in the Assoli prefecture. The party's commitment to education and community development has been recognized as a positive step towards improving the lives of young people in the region.
