On November 4, Colonel Bonfoh Faré, Prefect of Kozah, led a multisectoral delegation to supervise the biometric enrollment operation in the prefecture's four communes. The team, comprising officials from the National Identification Agency (ANID) and the National Institute of Statistics and Economic and Demographic Studies (INSEED) - Kara, aimed to ensure the operation's smooth execution, assess agent mobilization, and address potential challenges. The effort seeks to emphasize the initiative's importance and encourage traditional leaders and stakeholders to enhance awareness.
The delegation visited several centers, including Ecole primaire public (EPP) Atchangbadè, EPP Awandjélo, lycées Kara Sud and Kara 2, and EPP Pya centrale. At each location, Colonel Bonfoh Faré engaged with enumerators, communal and traditional authorities, and complaint handlers. He noted that the operation was progressing well, with necessary equipment and materials in place, and local authorities present. However, issues related to insufficient materials and population delays were reported.
According to an organizer, the influx of people in the afternoon can be attributed to their morning occupations in farm activities. Colonel Bonfoh Faré stressed the operation's significance, urging agents to provide a warm welcome to all citizens without exception. He called on operation leaders to address observed concerns, particularly regarding persons with disabilities.
The Prefect encouraged communal, traditional, and stakeholder authorities to redouble efforts in mobilizing the population to achieve set objectives. Bleoussi Joseph, head of the mission in Kozah, pledged to report encountered difficulties to find suitable solutions and guarantee desired results. Bograh Badjaglana, Kara's regional education director, reiterated his commitment to collaborating with school heads to ensure all students are registered.
This biometric enrollment operation is part of the regional integration and inclusion project in West Africa, led by ANID with INSEED's technical support. The initiative will provide Togolese citizens with an e-ID card, granting access to public and financial services. The exercise aims to cover the entire population, ensuring that no citizen is left behind.
Colonel Bonfoh Faré's supervisory visit demonstrates the government's commitment to a successful enrollment drive. By engaging with various stakeholders, the Prefect ensured that all parties are aligned with the operation's goals. The authorities' presence at enrollment centers facilitated a smoother process, addressing concerns and encouraging participation.
As the operation continues, stakeholders remain optimistic about achieving the desired outcomes. With a functional system in place, the focus shifts to addressing logistical challenges and enhancing public awareness. The successful completion of the biometric enrollment exercise will significantly impact Togo's Kozah prefecture, enabling citizens to access essential services and benefits.
