The Togolese government has launched a series of new services and equipment at the CHU Campus hospital in Lomé, aiming to create a modern and well-equipped reference hospital. Since September, the hospital has been introducing new services, including a new hospitalization building, interventional cardiology, MRI, intensive care, and dialysis. The goal is to accommodate more patients, expand the range of care services, and provide better treatment.

The new hospitalization building, which meets international standards, has been fully operational since September, providing more comfort for patients and better working conditions for healthcare professionals. The hospital has also introduced interventional cardiology services, including a state-of-the-art operating theater and a cardiology intensive care unit. This enables the hospital to perform coronary angiographies, angioplasties, and pacemaker implantations, and to treat severe cardiac emergencies on-site.

The hospital's radiology department has been upgraded into a comprehensive imaging center, equipped with a 1.5 Tesla MRI machine, a scanner, and modern radiological tables. The center also features advanced ultrasound machines and a mammograph, allowing for more accurate diagnoses and targeted treatments. Additionally, the hospital has opened a polyvalent intensive care unit with 15 beds, which will help alleviate the workload of the CHU Sylvanus-Olympio hospital.

The hospital has also introduced new emergency and surgical services, including a medico-surgical emergency unit and six operating theaters dedicated to various specialties such as traumatology, orthopedics, and maxillofacial surgery. A dental service equipped with panoramic radiography and specialized exploration equipment has also been launched. Furthermore, the hospital's pathology department, which analyzes tissues and cells to provide accurate diagnoses, has been open to the public since November 5.

The hospital's dialysis service is set to open on November 9, with ten generators, and will provide care to patients with acute or chronic kidney failure. The hospital's cancer registry, which tracks the evolution of cancer in Togo and informs prevention efforts, is also operational. The registry is a key tool in the country's fight against cancer.

The renovation of the hospital's old buildings is currently underway, with completion expected in the first half of 2027. The CHU Campus hospital aims to become one of the pillars of Togo's healthcare system, providing high-quality, accessible care to all. The hospital's expanded technical platform, new specialties, and cutting-edge equipment are key to achieving this goal.

The launch of these new services and equipment is part of the Togolese government's efforts to improve the country's healthcare system. The government aims to provide quality healthcare services to all citizens, and the CHU Campus hospital is a key component of this strategy. With its modern facilities and equipment, the hospital is well-positioned to provide high-quality care to patients from across the country.
