Senate President Godswill Akpabio has predicted a total victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South region. He made this statement at the Rivers State Rainbow Coalition rally held at the Adokie Amasiemeka Stadium in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. Akpabio expressed confidence in the peace and unity among stakeholders and political leaders in the zone, which he believes will ensure President Tinubu's return to office.
Akpabio noted that Rivers people are experienced in elections and voting, having done so in 2023 when the APC won in the South-South region. He specifically mentioned that President Tinubu won resoundingly in Rivers State, which was the only state in the region where the APC achieved a significant victory. Akpabio attributed this success to the love and trust that President Tinubu has for the people of Rivers State.
The Senate President highlighted the reasons why Rivers people should vote for President Tinubu, citing the appointment of their son, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who is doing a wonderful job in Abuja. Akpabio praised President Tinubu for handing over a strategic ministry to Wike, who has not disappointed. He described President Tinubu as a leader who knows how to put the right people in the right positions.
Akpabio also mentioned the various achievements of President Tinubu, including the Student Loan Fund, which has benefited over 100,000 students from Rivers State. He noted that the President had moved the country's foreign reserves from $4.5 billion to over $50 billion and unified the tax system, resulting in more revenue from taxation than from crude oil.
The Senate President charged the South-South people to continue supporting the President Tinubu-led administration, which he believes means well for ordinary Nigerians. He encouraged them to continue campaigning for the APC, despite being a popular party. Akpabio prayed that the gatherings in Akwa Ibom and Rivers States would not be in vain and that President Tinubu and the APC would emerge victorious on January 16.
Akpabio highlighted the benefits of President Tinubu's policies, including the Coastal Road, which passes through Rivers State and will lead to more economic and commercial activities along the coastline.
