President Bola Tinubu has fulfilled his promise to reward the Super Falcons with $100,000 each following their historic 3-2 victory over Morocco in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final. This win secured Nigeria's record-extending 10th continental title. The National Sports Commission confirmed that players have started receiving payments of approximately ₦140 million each, representing the naira equivalent of the $100,000 promised by the President.
Beyond the financial reward, Tinubu also promised each player and team official a fully furnished three-bedroom apartment in Abuja’s Renewed Hope Housing Estate. Additionally, he pledged the conferment of the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on all players and technical staff members. The players received title documents for their three-bedroom apartments in Abuja and certificates of the national honour at the 2026 WAFCON in July.
Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, praised Tinubu for fulfilling his commitment. He described the gesture as a significant boost to Nigerian sports and assured athletes that their sacrifices and achievements would be recognised. Dikko contrasted this with previous instances where sports rewards were delayed for years, highlighting Tinubu's efforts to change this narrative.
