The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has donated educational equipment to the electrical department of Djibouti's Industrial and Commercial High School (LIC) as part of its "Project to Increase Capacity and Support Equipment". The handover ceremony took place on November 2, 2026, in the presence of Turkish Ambassador to Djibouti Hüseyin Özdemir, among other dignitaries. This initiative aims to improve learning conditions for students and provide the department with technical and vocational training equipment.

The project builds on a previous initiative launched by TIKA in 2025, which provided 120 hours of training on the installation, maintenance, and use of photovoltaic systems for 26 teachers from various technical and vocational institutions. This training focused on developing competencies in renewable energy. The current project seeks to enhance the teaching of electrical engineering and related subjects at the LIC.

The donated equipment will enable students to acquire practical skills in electrical engineering and related fields. The Turkish Ambassador to Djibouti, Hüseyin Özdemir, emphasized the strong ties of friendship and fraternity between Turkey and Djibouti, highlighting the collaborative efforts in education, vocational training, and development. He assured that Turkey will continue to support projects contributing to Djibouti's sustainable development.

Mohamed Abdi Guedi, Director General of Vocational Education, praised the initiative, noting its contribution to the development of technical and vocational training in Djibouti. He stressed that the equipment and training in renewable energy will better prepare teachers and students for the job market. Onur Yaşar, TIKA's resident coordinator in Djibouti, emphasized the importance of vocational training in sustainable development and reaffirmed TIKA's commitment to continuing its projects in Djibouti.

The project aims to improve training conditions in the electrical department of the LIC, enhance teachers' competencies in renewable energy, and provide students with better learning opportunities through adapted equipment. This initiative strengthens Turkey-Djibouti cooperation in education and vocational training, contributing to the preparation of young people with technical skills useful for their future careers.

The handover ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the Director General of Vocational Education, Mohamed Abdi Guedi, TIKA's resident coordinator, Onur Yaşar, and the Inspector General of the Ministry of Education, Mohamed Abdo Ali. Teachers, students, and other guests also attended the event. The project demonstrates the ongoing partnership between Turkey and Djibouti in supporting education and vocational training.

Through this project, TIKA continues to support Djibouti's development in key sectors such as education and vocational training.
