A Palestinian was killed by Israeli shelling in the Shujaiya neighborhood of eastern Gaza City, according to an emergency and ambulance source. Another Palestinian died from injuries sustained in an Israeli airstrike on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. A third victim, a child, succumbed to gunshot wounds in the central Gaza Strip, north of the Nuseirat refugee camp, at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.

The Gaza health ministry reported that 1386 Palestinians have been killed and 4784 injured in Israeli violations of a ceasefire agreement in effect since October 2025. The overall death toll since the start of the conflict on October 7, 2023, stands at 73821, with 174897 wounded. These numbers reflect the ongoing violence and humanitarian crisis in the region.

Approximately 400,000 students in Gaza began the new academic year 2026-2027 under challenging circumstances. Many schools are still out of service due to damage or use as shelters for displaced persons, forcing students to learn in tents or temporary classrooms, or through remote education. The Gaza education ministry aims to educate 350,000 students this year, up from 270,000 last year.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) is implementing a blended model of in-person and remote learning for hundreds of thousands of students. Around 280,000 students are receiving education remotely, while 86 temporary learning spaces are being gradually expanded to accommodate more students. This approach aims to mitigate the impact of the conflict on education.

In the West Bank, Israeli settlers carried out a series of attacks on Saturday. Masked gunmen surrounded a Palestinian home in Khirbet al-Marajim, south of Nablus. Separately, settlers set fire to an agricultural room and sprayed racist graffiti in an area near the town of Yatta, south of Hebron. These incidents are part of a larger pattern of violence and intimidation.

Further incidents occurred in the southern Hebron area, where settlers damaged the main water line supplying the village of Adqaqa in Masafar Yatta, leaving around 700 residents without access to water. In another incident, settlers fired live ammunition at homes in the village of al-Mughayir, north of Ramallah, but no injuries were reported. Israeli forces also raided two homes in the village, detaining and interrogating family members.

According to the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority, Israeli settlers carried out 628 attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in August alone. The region is home to around 750,000 settlers living in 194 settlements and 400 outposts. These incidents highlight the ongoing tensions and challenges in the region.
