A total of thirty artisans, including masons, painters, draftsmen, and staffers from Togo's Maritime region, are currently taking part in a 3D decoration techniques workshop in Tsévié. The event, which runs from October 5 to 9, aims to equip these artisans with the skills needed to excel in the rapidly evolving construction industry. The workshop is organized by the Maritime Regional Chamber of Trades (CRM-M) with financial support from the National Fund for Apprenticeship, Training, and Professional Development (FNAFPP).
The 3D decoration technique is a finishing method for staff and painting works that meets modern technology standards for building construction. This training seeks to enable artisans to better master relief and trompe-l'oeil decoration techniques while promoting innovation and the valorization of building trades. By upgrading their skills, organizers hope to improve the quality of services offered, increase artisans' incomes, and make their services more competitive in the market.
The training is being provided by the "Carrefour des Leaders" Technical and Vocational Institute, based in Lomé and Sokodé. Under the guidance of its General Director, Darou Mabourouk, trainers will cover topics such as 3D epoxy resin for floors and walls, textured coatings, 3D concrete prints, and geometric 3D wall panels and staff. Participants will also learn about selecting suitable materials and equipment, maintaining and cleaning equipment, and using personal protective equipment according to their specific trades.
To ensure that artisans fully grasp the techniques being taught, the training will include practical exercises. This hands-on approach will enable participants to gain valuable experience and confidence in applying their new skills. The training program is designed to meet the evolving needs of the construction industry, where clients are increasingly seeking modern and innovative finishes.
Dotsè Médjina, Secretary General of the Maritime Region's prefecture, noted that this training is an important milestone in the professional development of the artisans. He emphasized that the valorization of local know-how, improved production quality, and artisans' innovative capacity contribute to the country's economic development. Médjina also highlighted the importance of collaboration between artisans and the Chamber of Trades.
Awali Pidassa, President of the FNAFPP Management Committee, stressed that clients' expectations are changing, with a growing demand for modern and innovative finishes. He encouraged artisans to invest in training to remain competitive in the face of new market requirements and urged trainers to adopt a practice-based pedagogical approach. Pidassa emphasized that mastering 3D decoration techniques is crucial for artisans to meet clients' evolving needs.
Atsou Koffi Mensah, President of the Maritime Regional Chamber of Trades, stated that 3D technology is gradually becoming a standard in the construction industry. He noted that digital advancements are transforming work methods and tools, making it essential for artisans to master these new techniques to remain competitive. The workshop is a significant step towards enhancing the skills and competitiveness of Togo's artisans in the construction sector.
