Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA) has confirmed a 36-member team to compete in the African Zone Three Swimming Championships in Uganda. The team, comprising 14 female and 22 male swimmers, will leave the country on October 20. National team manager Anna Paulo stated that the squad was drawn from different age categories. The team will be led by Mark Tibazarwa and Filbertha Demello as captains, with Austin Okore and Nicolene Viljoen as assistant captains.
The swimmers have been selected across eight age categories, ranging from 12-and-under to 17-and-over. This provides Tanzania with representation in both junior and senior events. In the 12-and-under girls category, Tanzania will be represented by Celine Matembo, Ruby Stanley, Ithra Kahemele, Iris Mattaka, and Camilla Kyenekiki. The boys' team in the same age group includes Oscar Liebchen, Mikhail Mangush, Arthur Mushi, Konhelli Mhella, and William Ng'wandu.
The 13-14 girls team comprises Heydleen Magashi, Leyna Borega, Lorita Borega, Imaan Kimario, and Nicolene Viljoen. The boys' team features Ethan Makalla, Nabil Ahmed, Nolan Maginga, Alberto Itatiro, Max Missokia, Ibrahim Igoro, and Fidel Kavishe. Abigail Matungwa and Zainab Moosa will represent Tanzania in the 15-16 girls category. The boys' team in this category includes Luke Okore, Zac Okumu, Shuneal Bharwani, Kabeer Lakhani, and Julius Missiokia.
The 17-and-over girls' team consists of Filbertha Demello and Cathleen Maokola. The boys' category features Austin Okore, Mark Tibazarwa, Abbas Abdulali, Isaac Mukani, and Michael Joseph. Tanzania swimmers train under lead coach Samwel Mtupo, assisted by Fiete Klenz and Rashidi Juma. The team is expected to use the championships as a platform to test themselves against competitors from across the region.
The African Zone Three Swimming Championships will run for five days, from October 21 to 25.
