The Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE) has announced plans to manage a registration and branding campaign for minerals produced in the country, dubbed 'Made in Tanzania'. This initiative aims to promote national identity and boost the economy. The campaign is part of a broader effort to promote Tanzanian products globally. TANTRADE's goal is to increase the country's visibility and competitiveness in the global market.
The 'Made in Tanzania' campaign was recently discussed at a conference in Geita, where Deo Shayo, TANTRADE's Business Development Manager, emphasized the importance of promoting Tanzanian minerals. Shayo stated that the campaign seeks to promote pride among mineral producers and traders, encouraging them to sell their products with the 'Made in Tanzania' label. This move aims to prevent the export of Tanzanian minerals with foreign labels.
The campaign will prioritize minerals such as Tanzanite, a rare gemstone found only in Tanzania, as well as other minerals produced in large quantities. TANTRADE has urged traders to register their products with the 'Made in Tanzania' label, citing the ease of online registration. According to Shayo, around 85% of TANTRADE's services are now available online, making it easier for traders to participate in the campaign.
Since the campaign began, over 120 products have been registered with the 'Made in Tanzania' label, with more expected to join. TANTRADE has pledged to provide support to registered traders, including showcasing their products at international trade events and through its Kanzi Data platform. The authority also plans to open an international trade center in Ubungo, where registered traders can showcase their products.
The introduction of the 'Made in Tanzania' branding is expected to boost Tanzania's economy and promote investment in the mining sector. By promoting Tanzanian minerals with a national label, the government aims to increase the country's revenue and create jobs. The campaign is also seen as a way to promote national pride and identity.
TANTRADE's efforts to promote Tanzanian products have been ongoing, with the authority working to increase awareness and participation in the 'Made in Tanzania' campaign. The authority has encouraged traders to take advantage of online registration and to showcase their products at international trade events. By doing so, TANTRADE aims to increase Tanzania's visibility in the global market.
The 'Made in Tanzania' campaign is a significant step towards promoting Tanzanian products and boosting the country's economy. With the support of TANTRADE and other stakeholders, the campaign is expected to have a positive impact on Tanzania's mining sector and economy as a whole. The initiative is also seen as a way to promote national identity and pride.
