Suez Canal University has initiated a series of community service projects by launching three specialized campaigns in the fields of medicine, agriculture, and veterinary medicine. These campaigns were conducted in collaboration with various faculties and departments within the university, under the patronage of Dr. Nasser Saeed Mandour, the university's president, and under the supervision of Dr. Dina Mohamed Ali Abu Al-Maati, the vice president for community service and environmental development. The campaigns aimed to provide essential services to areas in need.
The medical campaign, which took place in the center and city of Al-Qantera West, offered specialized services in dermatology and male diseases in coordination with the Faculty of Medicine. A total of 288 citizens benefited from the campaign, receiving necessary medical examinations and consultations, as well as free medication provided by the Faculty of Pharmacy. The medical team consisted of nine doctors from the Faculty of Human Medicine, who also provided guidance on medication dosages and usage.
The agricultural campaign, also targeting Al-Qantera West, involved students from the Faculty of Agriculture. The team visited several farms to identify agricultural issues with crops such as mangoes, date palms, dragon fruit, and strawberries. They provided recommendations and technical guidance, as well as distributed free pesticides according to the needs and recommendations. The campaign included practical training for 21 students from various departments, including horticulture, plant protection, and agricultural engineering.
The veterinary campaign was conducted in the center and city of Abu Sir, specifically at the International Company for Calves slaughterhouse. Students from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine participated in the campaign, receiving practical training on meat inspection, identification of stamps used, estimation of animal age, and diseases that require the disposal of certain carcasses. A total of 45 students and three faculty members participated in the campaign.
The organization of the campaigns involved Wafaa Imam Ahmed, general manager of environmental projects, and Khaled Matroud, manager of the campaigns administration. The university's efforts aim to utilize the expertise of its faculties and specialties to provide health, agricultural, and veterinary services to areas in need, while also providing training and practical application for students.
The campaigns are part of the national project to develop Egyptian villages, reflecting the university's commitment to its community service role. By providing these services, the university seeks to support the integration of education and community service, aligning with the state's efforts to achieve sustainable development.
