The Secretary General of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM), Dr. Akol Paul Kordit, has called on the party's Women and Youth Leagues to step up grassroots mobilisation and prepare for upcoming party congresses. This move is part of the SPLM's reorganisation ahead of the planned December 2026 elections. Dr. Kordit made the call during a strategic meeting with the leadership of the SPLM Women League and Youth League.

The meeting comes as the SPLM steps up preparations for its third National Convention, internal primaries, and congresses. The party has directed its structures and cadres to return to their constituencies and strengthen grassroots preparations. Dr. Kordit emphasised the crucial role of the youth in mobilising members and strengthening the party at the grassroots level, describing them as the "engine, energy, and mobilizers of the SPLM movement".

Dr. Kordit also highlighted the historical contribution of women to the movement, describing the Women League as the "mothers of the movement" due to their role in providing food, logistics, and other forms of support during the struggle. He directed SPLM structures at all levels to begin preparations for their respective congresses and actively participate in the reorganisation process leading to the Third National Convention.

The Chairlady of the SPLM Women League, Adak Costa Mapur, welcomed the party's support for the league and pledged to participate in the upcoming party activities. She said the Women’s League would work to ensure implementation of the 35 per cent affirmative action for women. The league would participate in the upcoming congresses, primaries and Third National Convention.

The Youth League Chairperson, Puok Bol Par, also pledged the youth's commitment to implementing the directives of the party leadership. He said the youth would immediately begin reorganising and mobilising their structures across the country in preparation for upcoming party activities. The Youth League would work to mobilise support for the SPLM ahead of the December elections.

The SPLM has intensified its grassroots organisation, including preparations for internal primaries and state congresses ahead of the Third National Convention. The party has instructed its leagues and structures from the national, state and county levels down to Payam and Boma levels to mobilise members, prepare for congresses, and participate in the reorganisation process.

The national secretariats of the Women and Youth Leagues are expected to provide guidance and logistical support to lower-level structures as preparations continue toward the Third National Convention and the planned December 2026 elections. The SPLM's efforts aim to strengthen its grassroots presence and ensure a strong showing in the upcoming elections.
