Vicky Foods, a leading Spanish company in the food industry, has announced a significant investment of €19 million in its Algerian production facility located in Sig, Mascara province. This strategic move aims to double the site's production capacity, solidifying the company's presence in the Algerian market. The expansion project includes the construction of a new warehouse and two additional production lines dedicated to genoise and bread.
The investment in the Sig facility, which was first established in 2014 as Vicky Foods' first production unit outside of Spain, marks a substantial commitment to the Algerian economy. The new production lines and expanded infrastructure will enable the company to broaden its product range and enhance its innovation and quality control capabilities. This development is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, with the creation of 100 new jobs.
The expansion project involves the construction of a new 10,000 square meter building, distributed over two levels, which will house the additional production lines and laboratory facilities. A new laboratory for analysis and another for product development have been added to strengthen the site's innovation and quality control capacities. This upgrade will allow Vicky Foods to improve its product offerings and meet growing demand in the Algerian market.
One of the new production lines, dedicated to genoise production, became operational in July, adding 7,000 tons to the site's annual production capacity. This line enables the production of new products such as mini-snacks, mini-rolls, mini-biscuits, and square pastries. The second line, focused on bread production, is expected to be operational by October, with an additional capacity of 8,000 tons. This will allow for increased production of hamburger buns, sandwich bread, and other varieties.
The investment by Vicky Foods in Algeria reflects the company's long-term growth strategy and commitment to the local market. According to Rafael Juan, CEO of Vicky Foods, "This investment reinforces our commitment to Algeria and ensures the continuity of our industrial project in the country. With the two new lines, we are doubling the capacity of the plant, expanding our product range with new items, and pursuing our international growth strategy in a long-term perspective."
Vicky Foods commercializes its products in Algeria under the Dulcesol brand. The company's decision to expand its operations in the country is seen as a vote of confidence in the Algerian economy and its growth potential. The investment is also expected to contribute to the country's economic development and job creation efforts.
The expansion of Vicky Foods' production facility in Sig is a significant development in Algeria's food industry. With its increased capacity and new product lines, the company is well-positioned to meet growing demand and further establish itself in the Algerian market. The investment is a testament to the country's attractiveness as a destination for foreign investment and its potential for economic growth.
